There are as many answers to this question as there are injuries and severity of each injury.
1st thing first…
If you have been seriously injuried, get your doctors OK, before engaging in any type of intense activity. They will give you directives to follow on intensity and type of exercise. Ask your doctor about plyometric, weight training, and your sport.
If you are cleared for exercise be smart and listen to your doctor. Ease into intensity and greater loads, and focus on correct form. As your body is more comfortable with the exercise and intensity you can increase both.
If your injury is of the common, and recurring.. such as patellar tendonitis…
I would first check the section I have about patellar tendonitis, or your specific injury. Rehab, and future injury prevention is extremely important.
As a general rule if your pain is above a 3 or 4 out of 10, I would pursue rehabilitation rather than intense exercise. If you are not properly rehabilitated you are going to risk further injury.
Post your specific injury and situation here and we can help you gain insight and take the right course of action!
